TCP Viewer Changelog

This page lists the main user-facing changes in TCP Viewer. We recommend using the latest release for new features, fixes, and better capture performance.

1. Version 1.18.0​

1.1 New​

  • Added support for macOS 27 Golden Gate.
  • Added tab mode with separate filters and selections, tab reordering, and Back and Forward navigation through tab history.
  • Added Split View for comparing packets side by side. Each pane keeps its own source selection, filters, and inspector.
  • Expanded MCP and the command line to manage tabs and split panes, read Overview and endpoint statistics, follow TCP and UDP streams including DNS, and import or export targeted captures.

Additional tabs and Split View require TCP Viewer PRO.

2. Version 1.17.1​

  • Fixed a problem that prevented license activation.

3. Version 1.17.0​

  • Added Team licenses for teams and companies.
  • Fixed the app name shown in System Settings under Login Items & Extensions.

6. Version 1.14.0​

  • Added tcpviewer-cli for capture control, packet and stream queries, file import and export, and app settings.
  • Added Wireshark display filters, a shortcut to focus the packet filter, and filters created from selected packets.
  • Added Homebrew cask updates during production releases.
  • Fixed CLI import results, export order, filter values, and TCP stream limits.

7. Version 1.12.0​

  • Added Follow TCP Stream to read a conversation between two endpoints in a separate window.

8. Version 1.11.0​

8.1 New​

  • Added packet colors. Color choices are kept in exported TCP Viewer sessions.
  • Added comments for packets. Comments stay with saved, opened, and exported captures.
  • Added passive DNS names, including names learned from DNS over TCP.

8.2 Improved​

  • Explained more clearly that an MCP BPF filter changes which future packets are captured. It is different from filtering packets already in the app.

9. Version 1.10.0​

9.1 New​

  • Added TCP Viewer MCP for Codex, Claude Code, and other MCP clients.
  • Added tools to query and summarize packets, inspect protocol details, list interfaces and streams, export selections, reveal packets, and control live capture.
  • Added optional redaction of authorization headers, cookies, credentials, tokens, and other sensitive values before data is sent to an MCP client.

  • Improved Helper Tool connection and error handling.
  • Fixed several packet-copy and Wireshark error cases.

12. Version 1.7.0​

  • Added a clearer Getting Started screen for choosing an interface and starting a capture.
